Communication Strategies for Online Communities

A project dedicated to analyzing and improving interactions within a forum dedicated to mature discussions about social relationships.

The Initial Challenge

The forum faced a low level of engagement from new members, conversations that remained superficial, and a perception of impersonality. The goal was to transform the space into a more connected and productive one.

The Process and Solution

We implemented a three-stage strategy:

  • Thematic Restructuring: We reorganized categories to better reflect the lifecycle of a discussion – from initial questions to stories and advanced advice.
  • Participation Guides: We created visual resources and short guides that encouraged constructive communication and conflict management.
  • Community Initiatives: We introduced "deep topics week" and moderator-guided threads to stimulate meaningful discussions.

Results Achieved

1

45% increase in posts from new members in the first 3 months.

2

Average time spent on page increased from 2 to over 5 minutes.

3

Positive feedback regarding discussion quality increased significantly, with mentions of a stronger sense of belonging.
